IZTECH Wind Energy Meteorology and Environmental Application and Research Center (RÜZMER) was established

Izmir High Technology Institute (IYTE) Wind Energy Meteorology and Environmental Application and Research Center (RÜZMER) was established.

RÜZMER, which will be located in the Integrated Research Centers (TAM) complex with a 7,000 m 2 closed area in the Gülbahçe Campus, where IYTE’s thematic centers serving all academic and industrial researchers throughout Turkey are located, will be located in the Integrated Research Centers (TAM) complex with a 7,000 m 2 closed area. Approved with.

RÜZMER, prepared by İYTE with the support of İzmir Development Agency (İZKA) in 2021 and submitted to the Ministry of Industry and Technology, supported by a budget of 40 million TL, is a national and independent wind farm in Izmir, the center of more than half of the installed wind power plant power in Turkey. It will serve as a testing and analysis center.

Rector Prof. Dr. In his statement regarding the establishment of RÜZMER, Yusuf Baran said: “İYTE continues to contribute to the development of our country’s industry, reduce its foreign dependency and increase its international competitiveness with the knowledge it produces in the education, science and technology ecosystem, qualified human resources and advanced research infrastructure. RÜZMER was one of the most important projects we initiated in this sense. We are happy to be able to carry out the necessary tests and analyzes in terms of high technology production in the wind energy sector in our country, with our local and national resources. I would like to thank our Minister of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Mustafa Varank, our Governor of Izmir, Mr. Yavuz Selim Köşger, and Izmir Development Agency, who supported us in the realization of our project, and I hope that our center will be beneficial for our region and our country.” said.

Laboratories to be established at RÜZMER, whose structuring process is ongoing:

  • Meteorological Measurement and Testing Laboratory
  • Environmental Conditioning Laboratory
  • Spectroscopic Material Testing and Analysis Laboratory

In addition to terrestrial and offshore remote wind measurement such as lidars and sodars, RÜZMER laboratories will support the industry’s qualified material research and testing for towers, turbine blades and other parts, and will also serve other sectors such as the defense and automotive industry.

RÜZMER, which will serve on the Izmir Institute of Technology campus as a center where tests and analyzes can be carried out within the standards in the wind energy sector, which is expected to create a market of 170 billion dollars annually on a global scale in the next 5 years, will increase the competitiveness of both the region and the country in the sector by preventing cost and time losses. Therefore, it has great strategic importance.
