Start-ups that foster and support a low-carbon technology

Technopark İzmir is located in an international research institute such as IZTECH creating an international R&D environment for the tenants. Proximity to researchers and research facilities, which are the main components of R&D studies, and the ability of tenant companies to benefit from existing facilities such as laboratories and libraries whenever they need them are the factors that make the zone attractive. Trainings are provided to startups in terms of relevant legal and financial matters. In order to support startups, utilities bills were paid by IZTECH in their first 2 years of establishment.

The Esinotek Energy R&D startup was established within the scope of TÜBİTAK 1512 Individual Young Entrepreneur Program, was established to create a widespread technological and economic impact on clean and renewable energy, especially solar energy. Esinotek works in a wide range from material synthesis to device fabrication and testing within the scope of R&D studies, and also operates in providing technology-oriented training services. https://esinotek.com/

Iongenics develops and manufactures energy efficient, safe and modular systems for green hydrogen production. These systems are based on PEM electrolyzers and incorporate an innovative catalyst technology. Iongenics hydrogen generators are used in a wide range of applications such as cooling for power generation in power plants, metal processing, energy storage, hydrogenation reactors, fuel cells and laser cutting. In January 2020, Iongenics was among a handful of companies selected for the KWORKS start-up accelerator program. In September 2020, it was officially established after receiving support from the TÜBİTAK 1512 (BiGG – Techno-Entrepreneurship Capital Support) program. Iongenics’ co-founders are Dr. Lecturer Erdal Uzunlar from Izmir Institute of Technology and Koç University. Prof. Dr. Erdal Uzunlar from Izmir Institute of Technology and Prof. Dr. Can Erkey from Koç University. They have a great deal of experience and know-how in electrochemical systems and hydrogen.
