Within the scope of the “Academy Culture and Science Awards” given by the All Bureaucrats and Businessmen Federation (TÜMBİFED), the “2023 Education Award” went to İzmir Institute of Technology Rector Prof. Dr. Yusuf Baran this year.

As a result of the meticulous examinations carried out by the TÜMBİFED Academy Culture and Science Awards Commission, individuals and organizations that contributed to the increase of the socio-economic level of society were rewarded.

Rector Baran, who was recently awarded the “Science Diplomacy” award by the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) for his significant contributions to the international relations of countries through international scientific collaborations between scientists and universities, also received the “Education Award of the Year” from TÜMBİFED.

Receiving his award at the ceremony held at Istanbul Dedeman Hotel, Rector Baran noted the following in his speech: “As we celebrate the 100th Anniversary of our Republic, as an educator who is proud to be a child of the Republic of Turkey and who has adopted Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s words “He who loves his country most does his job best” as a motto, I am very happy and proud to have received such a meaningful award. I wholeheartedly believe in the power of science and therefore the importance of education for the development of our country in every sense. As an academician and educator, I work with love and great motivation in order to contribute to the development of both my students and our society. It is very valuable that these efforts are reciprocated. I would like to thank my colleagues and all İYTE friends who support me in my work; TÜMBİFED President Mehmet Hüsrev who honored me with the “2023 Education Award”, valuable federation members and the Chairman of the Academy Culture and Science Awards Commission and also MEF University President Prof. Dr. “I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Muhammed Şahin and the commission members,” he said.
