Izmir Institute of Technology (IZTECH) provides access to food security and sustainable agriculture & aquaculture knowledge, skills, and technology to local farmers and food producers through several initiatives and programmes. IZTECH provides access to the university’s research facilities to several local farmers and food producers to improve sustainable farming practices.
IZTECH is also an implementing partner of LOCALNUTLEG (https://localnutleg.eu/partners/) – Developing innovative plant-based value-added food products through the promotion of LOCAL Mediterranean NUT and LEGume crops project supported by the Horizon 2020 Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area Programme (PRIMA). A specific deliverable of this project is to distribute nutritional valorization of local Mediterranean nuts and legumes assessment knowledge at fairs, agriculture associations, and local farmers and food producers in partnership with the Urla City Council-Women Initiative.
